The Oregon Health Authority announced 292 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday and no new deaths.

Sunday marks one year since the first case of coronavirus was identified in Oregon. Since then, more than 155,000 Oregonians have been infected or presumed infected by the virus, and more than 2,200 Oregonians with COVID-19 have died.

The Oregonian/OregonLive on Sunday looked back at the past year and told the stories of 12 people infected with the coronavirus.

Gov. Kate Brown on Sunday issued a statement addressing the impact of COVID-19 on the state. She noted Oregon has maintained some of the lowest infection, hospitalization and death rates in the country while acknowledging the disproportionate impact of the pandemic on communities of color.

“Today and every day, we remember the more than 2,200 Oregonians we have lost,” Brown said. “Our hearts are with the families who have lost loved ones to this deadly disease. We must continue to keep each other safe by wearing masks, avoiding gatherings with people from outside our households, maintaining distance, washing our hands, and staying home while sick.”

Where the new cases are by county: Baker (1), Benton (7), Clackamas (26), Columbia (4), Coos (10), Curry (3), Deschutes (6), Douglas (11), Grant (1), Hood River (1), Jackson (21), Jefferson (3), Josephine (3), Klamath (2), Lake (1), Lane (36), Lincoln (1), Linn (4), Malheur (1), Marion (52), Morrow (2), Multnomah (25), Polk (11), Umatilla (8), Washington (42) and Yamhill (10).

Who died: The state health authority did not report any new COVID deaths Sunday.

The prevalence of infections: On Sunday, the state reported 350 new positive tests out of 10,336 tests performed, equaling a 3.4% positivity rate.

Who’s in the hospital: The state reported 134 Oregonians with confirmed coronavirus infections were hospitalized Sunday, 14 fewer than Saturday. Of those, 26 coronavirus patients were in intensive care units, five fewer than Saturday.

Vaccines administered: Oregon has administered 973,022 first and second doses out of 1,194,495 received, which is about 81.5% of its supply. Oregon reported 29,330 newly administered doses, which includes 19,513 on Saturday and the remainder from previous days.
