SAN RAMON — A Florida murder suspect whose flight from officers triggered a temporary lock down of students at a nearby middle school campus has been arrested, authorities said Tuesday.
Just before 2:10 p.m., police said in a social-media post that the suspect, identified as Reynaldo Sanchez, 22, had fled officers on Bollinger Canyon Road near Briar Oak Drive and North Monarch Road.
After initially urging nearby residents to shelter in place, police said students at Gale Ranch Middle School, 6400 Main Branch Rd., would be held on campus rather than released at 2:45 p.m. Students were later released shortly after 3:30 p.m., with no reported issues. By 5:45 p.m., police said they were no longer asking residents to shelter, adding that they believed Sanchez had left the area, and that the department would share more details later Tuesday.
In additional social-media posts, police released an image of Sanchez and advised residents that he had not yet been found despite a heavy police presence at Bollinger and Monarch. But at 8 p.m., police said an alert community member’s tip led officers to him, and he was taken into custody without incident ahead of booking into Martinez county jail.
There were no details immediately available on the killing Sanchez was linked to, though police later said he was wanted for a Broward (Fla.) County warrant.
Anyone who sees him may call San Ramon police at 925-973-2779.

We do not know if he was armed today, but based on his warrant out of Florida, he should be considered very dangerous.

Yes. At this point, we believe the suspect has left the area and is no longer a threat to those in these communities. Our Detectives are trying to develop leads on where he may have fled. However, with as much time as has passed, he could be a long way from San Ramon by now.
