The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now assisting in Lancaster County with the search for an Amish teenage girl who hasn’t been seen since leaving a Sunday church service, police said Wednesday.

This news is the latest to show law enforcement and members of the community are ramping up efforts to find 18-year-old Linda Stoltzfoos, an East Lampeter Township resident.

She was last seen Sunday on a farm on Stumptown Road in Bird-in Hand, wearing a tan dress, white apron and white cape, township police said. She’s about 5-foot, 10-inches tall and 125 pounds.

Police Lt. Matthew Hess said the circumstances of her disappearance haven’t been determined. However, police are asking that Stoltzfoos reach out to confirm she’s OK if she left by free will.

For the last two days, “dedicated trained search teams only” have unsuccessfully searched the area surrounding 18-year-old Linda Stoltzfoos’ East Lampeter Township home, according to a Facebook page created for updating the public.

Police said Tuesday “trained search personnel” are using dogs, horses, ATV equipment and drones to broaden the hunt for the 18-year-old. They’re also interviewing her friends and family.

Because the search party is taking trained professionals only, Hess said the main thing the public can do is offer their thoughts and prayers.
