SYDNEY--Oil Search Ltd. said Managing Director Keiran Wulff has resigned for health reasons, and named Peter Fredricson as acting chief executive with immediate effect.
Oil Search said Dr. Wulff, who replaced long-serving managing director Peter Botten in February 2020, has been managing a long-term medical condition which has recently deteriorated.
Chairman Rick Lee said company directors had begun discussions with Dr. Wulff following the receipt of recent concerns and complaints about his behavior. Mr. Lee said the board considered that Dr. Wulff had behaved in a manner inconsistent with expected standards in relation to his management style.
Mr. Lee didn't elaborate, but said the company recognized the challenges that Dr. Wulff's recent health issues have had on him.
Dr. Wulff, in Oil Search's regulatory filing, said that it has "become apparent to me that due to my health challenges, it is becoming increasingly difficult for me to perform at the level required of the position."
Mr. Fredricson joined Oil Search earlier this year as chief financial officer.
