ACTON — Police are on the lookout for the suspect of an armed robbery that took place at the Subway restaurant on Great Road shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Acton Police Chief Richard Burrows reported in a department press release that no one was injured during the robbery and the suspect is not believed to be an active threat to the public.

An initial investigation of the robbery suggests the suspect brandished a handgun at a Subway clerk and demanded money at 8:05 p.m., police said. The suspect then fled the restaurant on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

According to police, the suspect headed west down the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail behind the restaurant.

The suspect is described by police as a male, approximately 6-feet tall, with a large build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black hoodie, a mask and gloves.

Acton Police encourage anyone with information about the suspect or the robbery to contact the department at 978-929-7711.
