The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended their search for a man who was presumed drowned after his boat capsized at the mouth of Netarts Bay Friday afternoon, officials said.

According to Oregon State Police, Fairview residents Srun Hong, 41, and Lyda Hong, 53, were crabbing in a small inflatable boat with an electric motor when their boat encountered heavy surf and capsized.

Oregon State Police, Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, Netarts Fire and Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to a report of the capsized boat at about 2:20 p.m. A Coast Guard helicopter crew recovered Lyda Hong, who was wearing a life jacket. She was taken to Tillamook Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released.

Srun Hong, who was not wearing a life jacket, was not located and was presumed drowned, officials said. U.S. Coast Guard announced they suspended their search for him at 9:30 a.m. today.
