RYE, Colo. (KKTV) - Authorities say they have found a missing 20-year-old hiker after searching the area of Greenhorn Mountain for two days.

The hiker had set out Monday for the Bartlett Trail which plans to summit Pueblo County’s highest peak, Greenhorn Mountain. The sheriff’s office was called that evening when he failed to return.

Search and Rescue teams from Pueblo and Huerfano counties began searching Monday night, with Custer County Search and Rescue joining Tuesday. Flight for Life flew over the area while search and rescue covered all of the major trails in the area. The search was called off in the afternoon due to severe thunderstorms in the area.

Wednesday, several other agencies assisted in the search, including El Paso, Teller, Fremont, Douglas and Arapahoe county search and rescue teams, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and the National Guard. One hundred ATVs, horses, helicopters, search dogs and drones were also used in the search.

The hiker was found safe Wednesday afternoon. No further information was released about where he was found and whether he was lost.
