Costabile and Bayhawks Advance
After a grueling schedule of five games in seven days, former Duke All-American CJ Costabile and the Chesapeake Bayhawks have advanced to the Major League Lacrosse semifinals as the No. 3 seed.
Costabile finished with a three goals, two of which came behind the two-point line, and two assists, picked up 14 ground balls and won 4-of-10 faceoffs. In a win over the New York Lizards, Costabile was the player of the game with two two-point goals and an assist.
The Bayhawks, the reigning MLL Champions, will play Connecticut in a rematch July 25 at 4 p.m. on ESPN+. The Hammerheads defeated the Bayhawks 14-9 Friday. The winner advances to the championship match July 26 at 2 p.m.CJ from the parking lot! @MLL_Lacrosse pic.twitter.com/88sWi3q81L

Donning a New York Lizards jersey was Peter Welch. The 2019 Duke graduate was solid in the five outings, collecting 14 ground balls and three caused turnovers as a longstick midfielder. The Lizards went 0-5 in the tournament with four of the setbacks coming by two or fewer goals.
PLL Gets Underway
Eleven Blue Devils have been inside the Premier Lacrosse League bubble for the past week in preparation of the PLL Championship Series in Utah. The tournament debuts July 25 with the Redwoods against the Whipsnakes at 4 p.m., on NBC. Blue Devils featured in this opening game are Myles Jones for the Redwoods and Brad Smith for the Whipsnakes.

2021 Roster Taking Shape
Ten Blue Devils who had their careers ended suddenly with the COVID-19 pandemic, have elected to take the extra season of eligibility granted by the NCAA after the 2020 season was canceled in March. JT Giles-Harris, Blake Leischow, Terry Lindsay, Sean Lowrie, Joey Manown, Kevin Quigley, Walker Scaglione, Brian Smyth, Turner Uppgren and Reilly Walsh all will return as graduate students.
Joining the Blue Devil family for a final season as graduate student transfers are Michael Sowers and Philip Robertson of Princeton, Dan O'Connell of Holy Cross and Mike Adler from Saint Joseph's. All are among the top eligible graduate student transfers, including Sowers who was widely considered a frontrunner for the 2020 Tewaaraton Award. Robertson is the brother of senior Joe Robertson, who missed the 2020 season to injury.
